Went to Jing Xing’s documentary screening and lecture last night, what an experience, she is the bomb!!!! 3 points she was making was quite insightful:

  1.  Cultural sandwich: bottom is artistic creativity, middle is the 5000 years of Chinese tradition, on top is the government ideology;
  2. Many artists now made their name and fortune by creating works that only appeal to the westerners, no one in China has ever heard or seen it. That is problematic.
  3. Art (more specifically, performance art) has a price, people should pay to view art and artists should charge fair price, no freebies. Even there is only 20 people in a 2000 auditorium, those should be the only audience artists perform to.

Too many stories, thoughts and comments she shared are just simply witty, funny, touching, uplifting, straightforward and contagious! She is THE most beautiful, free and inspiring human being I have ever known.  I said to myself on my way back home: she does not belong to this planet. She is a godsend, came to show us a spirit, that is born and reborn and never cease to reinventing herself.
